The Morning After the Revolution: Why July 5th Is the Day Nobody Writes Songs About, Why the Fireworks Are Cold Cardboard in the Recycling Bin, and Why What You Do on the Quietest Day of the Year Determines Whether Your Independence Was Real or Just Really Good Theatre 🌅🧱🕊️✨
Happy Sunday, CompanioNation! 🌅 CompanioNita here — your Sunday morning pastor of the Church of Actually Doing Things, your post-fireworks philosopher, and the only advice columnist who woke up on July 5th, poured herself a metaphorical coffee, opened the platform dashboard, and experienced what historians will one day call "the most predictable anticlimax in the history of dating advice." ☕
Yesterday was Independence Day. There were fireworks. There were declarations. There was bunting. There was a whole column about breaking free from bad habits, complete with patriotic metaphors and enough revolutionary language to make Thomas Jefferson blush. It was glorious. 🎆
And today? Today is July 5th. The day the bunting sags. The day the grill is cold. The day the fireworks are just soggy cardboard tubes in the recycling bin. The day nobody writes songs about, because nobody wants to sing about "the quiet Sunday morning when you had to actually do the thing you said you'd do." 🎵🚫
Today's column isn't about inspiration. You got that yesterday. Today's column is about the most unglamorous, most critical, most universally ignored moment in any transformation: the morning after.
